Joint efforts control wildfire

IMPHAL, Mar 11 : A joint team of Forest, Fire Service and police personnel along with locals successfully put out a wildfire originating from the western side of Angaan Ching Eco Park, Kakching at 5.25 pm today.
The team consisted of RFO, Kakching and staff, Kakching Fire Sub Station staff, OC, Kakching PS and police personnel as well Pradhan of Lamjao GP and villagers of Tejpur, as per a statement issued by Surjit Kshetrimayum, secretary, Alliance for Development Alternatives Manipur (ADAM).
The collective intervention stopped the forest fire from causing extensive damage.
Biramangol Pukhram-bam, honorary caretaker of Angaan Ching Eco Park informed the Management Committee of the Park and Surjit Kshetrimayum about the fire, who in turn, notified the officials concerned.
After a timely response from the officials, the fire was completely extinguished by 6:30 pm.
Additionally, locals in the foothill region were urged (through a loudspeaker) to prevent and remain safe from such fires with the participation of the OC of Kakching PS.
Raising suspicion that today's fire may have been caused due to the negligence of certain individuals, the public of the area have been urged to help prevent forest fires and save the trees at Angaan Ching Eco Park.
