NSA greets Ambekar on winning silver at World Boxing Futures Cup

IMPHAL, Mar 16 : National Sports Academy, Khuman  Lampak Sports Complex has extended congratulations to Lairenlakpam Ambekar on winning a silver medal at the World Boxing Futures Cup that was held from March 8 to 15 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Ambekar, son of Lairenlakpam Madan and Lairenlakpam Babita Leima of Lamlai Mayai Leikai, won the silver medal in the U-19 Men’s 50 kg category competition following the final bout loss to Ukraine’s Mykhailo Sydorenko yesterday.
Ambekar is currently studying in Class XI (Arts) in the National Sports Academy, Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.
Greeting him over his achievement, the academy also wished him success in his future endeavours.
He was among the five Indian boxers to win a medal at the youth competition. Manipur’s Chirom Joyshree Devi (women’s 54 kg) and  Radhamani Longjam (women’s 57 kg),  who both train at Sarita Regional Boxing Academy, also contributed a silver and a bronze medal respectively to India’s tally.
Other Indian medallists include Chandrika Pujari who secured a gold medal in the women’s 51 kg competition and Gunjan, who won a silver medal in the women’s 48 kg competition.
