IMPHAL, Mar 16: NSCN (IM)’s Eastern Flank, Naga Army has issued a strong warning against the demand for Kuki homeland.
The hypocritical policy of the Government of India to use the Kuki militants as a proxy to attack the political rights of the Nagas, and the Kuki militants' insistence on carving out some parts of ‘Nagalim’ as Kuki homeland can never be tolerated, Lt Gen A Raman of NSCN (IM), Eastern Flank, Naga Army asserted in a statement.
Endorsing the call made by the Tangkhul Naga Long on February 25, 2026 to all Tangkhul Naga villagers to immediately cut all civic and economic ties with the Kukis, the NSCN (IM)’s army unit has banned timber business and other business activities such as oil (petroleum, diesel etc) and food supply in the Indo-Myanmar border areas stretching from Thana to Namlee with immediate effect.
It has also endorsed the statement issued by the NSCN (IM)’s ministry of information and publicity on February 11, 2026 which said, “NSCN shall therefore, stand the ground come what may to defend the land of the God given Naga Nation.”
The NSCN (IM) army unit said  that it will take up necessary steps regarding the matter.
Dishonouring the hospitality of the Nagas (land- owners), the Kuki immigrants severely assaulted an innocent Tangkhul Winger driver on Imphal-Ukhrul Highway in June 2025, again on  February 8, 2026, the Kuki militants in collusion with Indian security forces brazenly committed an inhuman act of arson at Litan.
More than 23 houses of the Tangkhul Nagas were burnt down by the Kuki militants, and the Indian security forces were openly seen joining hands with the Kuki militants in the act, it alleged.
The reason behind such audacity for Kukis to attack Tangkhul Naga village, while being an immigrant, is apparent to all- they have the support of the Indian security forces, it said.
“We are once again compelled to defend our land to the last from the aggressors and the encroachers. We appeal to all the Naga youths to prepare and rise to defend the God-given land, Nagalim”, the NSCN (IM) army unit said.
It also said, “As long as the Kukis recognize the Nagas as the landowners, we have no problems with them. However, there can be no peace, and no compromise if the Kuki immigrants insist on carving out parts of Nagalim to create the Kuki homeland.” There can be no peace and no compromise if the Kuki immigrants insist on carving out parts of ‘Nagalim’ to create the Kuki homeland, it added.
