Senapati, Mar 16 : The Annual Sports Meet of Rosary School, Purul kicked off with great enthusiasm and vibrant participation from students, teachers, members of the School Board, and well-wishers.
The event began with a welcome address by Rev Fr Jacob Raising, Principal of Rosary School, who warmly welcomed all present and encouraged the students to actively participate in the sports meet.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Lt Col Sidharth Samant, Second-in-Command of 16 Assam Rifles, as the chief guest. Shylock S Taishya, founder of Innovative Media Stop (IMS) and president of the Rosary School Alumni, attended the function as the guest of honour.
The program began with the ceremonial march past by the participating houses, showcasing discipline and team spirit.
The inaugural session also featured a variety of creative and aerobatic displays performed by the students, which captivated the audience and set an energetic tone for the sports meet.
Students from different houses will compete in a wide range of athletic and sporting events over the course of the meet. The competitions are designed to encourage healthy rivalry and to nurture the sporting talents of the students.
Speaking on the occasion, Shylock S Taishya, an alumnus of Rosary School, reminded the students to take pride in their alma mater, which has produced many distinguished personalities and professionals over the years, including doctors, engineers, scholars, Government officers, chartered accountants, academicians, entrepreneurs, and leaders serving in top positions in public sector undertakings and corporate organizations.
He also encouraged the students not to feel disheartened about studying in a rural or village setting. With the availability of modern resources such as the internet and AI-based learning applications, students today have greater opportunities to gain knowledge, explore new ideas, and learn independently, while teachers can guide and mentor them in their journey of learning and personal development, he said.
In his address, Lt Col Sidharth Samant assured that he would propose and pursue the establishment of a computer laboratory for the school, recognizing the importance of digital learning facilities for students in today’s technology-driven world.
The Annual Sports Meet is expected to conclude with prize distributions recognizing outstanding performances and achievements by the students.
