Sajibu Nongma Panba greetings pour in

IMPHAL, Mar 18 : Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla has led in conveying heartiest greetings and best wishes to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Sajibu Nongma Panba Cheiraoba, the traditional New Year festival of the Meitei community.
In his message, Bhalla said Sajibu Cheiraoba signifies renewal, hope, and the beginning of a New Year filled with optimism and aspirations. The festival reflects rich cultural heritage and age-old traditions that promote family bonding, respect for elders, and harmony within society.
He urged the people to reaffirm their commitment to unity, peace, and collective progress as they welcome the New Year.
Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh also extended warm wishes for Meitei Cheiraoba, which is celebrated on the first day of the lunar month of Sajibu.
The festival reinforces the age-old bond of brotherhood between different communities of the State and is considered as a harbinger of prosperity and progress, he said.
Joining in, Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Th Satyabrata Singh offered warm greetings to the people of Manipur with the hope that the New Year will be marked by kindness, courage to dream and the strength to rise above division.
May the blessings of Sajibu Nongma Panba Cheiraoba guide Manipur towards peace, harmony and growth, he added.
Calling Cheiraoba a time for family bonding, reflection and the cleansing of people's homes and hearts, Mayang Imphal AC MLA K Robindro hoped that the traditional "Ching Kaba" will symbolize the State's collective rise to greater heights of resilience and progress.
Thanga AC MLA T Robindro prayed that the New Year will inspire everyone to move forward with courage and dedication, strive for progress and collective well-being.
Additionally, the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Okram Ibobi urged people to offer prayers to the Almighty to fill the New Year with peace, prosperity, development and unity among different communities.
Aside from these, many organisations of the State have also extended Cheiraoba wishes, including the All Manipur Students' Union, Manipur Youth League (MAYOL), Macha Leima, Ethno Heritage Council, Kabui Union Manipur, Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board (LSTB) and Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA).
Meanwhile, Kangleipak Minority Welfare Organization, Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS), Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF), All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) and the Manipur State Council, Communist Party of India have conveyed warm Cheiraoba and Eid-ul Fitr greetings.
