Projects inaugurated, road upgradation work on

Imphal, Mar 1 : Chief Minister Yumnam Khem-chand Singh today inau- gurated three projects--- Itham Moirangpurel Bridge under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Model Residential School under Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) and Science and Arts Block of Moirangpurel Higher Secondary School under (Samagra Shiksha, Manipur) at Moirangpurel.
The Chief Minister also flagged off upgradation of NH-202 from Lamlai to Thoubal Dam at Napet Palli.
Speaking at the function held at Moirangpurel Higher Secondary School, the Chief Minister stated that the school has been unable to operate properly due to shortage of teachers.
He maintained that necessary steps will be taken up to address the shortage.
On receiving inputs that certain security personnel allegedly were involved in unlawful activities along the road at Moirangpurel, the Chief Minister promptly directed the Superintendent of Police to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
Further, the Chief Minister also directed the Deputy Commissioner of Imphal East to furnish report of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of Laikhong Village who have not yet received the benefit for purchasing mattresses through Direct Benefit Transfer.
The DC assured that after joint efforts with the Home Department, the gap would be bridged.
The Moirangpurel Higher Secondary School, Imphal East was built with an estimated cost of Rs 3,78,56,031 funded by Samagra Shiksha Manipur and implemented by EEW (Education Engineering Wing).
The component includes classrooms, laboratories, library, boys and girls toilet and rainwater harvesting facility.
The Model Residential School was constructed under Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram funded by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India with the project cost of around Rs. 25.62 crore.
The Itham Moirangpurel Bridge over Thoubal River in Imphal East District, was constructed at a sanctioned cost of approximately Rs 645.84 lakh. The construction was carried out by M/s NDS Construction, a Special Class Contractor, under the PMGSY-1.
The upgradation of NH-202 from Lamlai to Thoubal Dam  (18.01 km) is a part of a road network which connects two main Highways of the State i.e. NH-202 (Imphal-Ukhrul road) and NH -102 (A) (Shangshak Tengnoupal Road.
The construction is likely to be completed within a year.
Speaking on the occasion, Andro AC MLA Th Shyamkumar acknowledged the Chief Minister's unwavering support in the development of the Andro AC.
Lamlai AC MLA Khongbantabam Ibomcha mentioned that since the formation of the new Government, development activities have been progressing at a rapid pace across the State.
Phungyar AC MLA Leishiyo Keishing also emphasised that upgrading the road connecting Napet Palli and Ashang Khullen to National Highway status would bring significant benefits to the public.
He highlighted that such an upgrade would improve connectivity, enhance transportation, and foster economic activities, thereby providing real-time advantages and better opportunities for the local population
The programme was attended by Commissioner to Chief Minister N Ashok Kumar, Chief Engineer of PWD Chongtham Biswachandra Singh, officials of the Education (S) Department, students, and locals among others.
