IMPHAL, Mar 22 : YPHU-Nongin (N), Lalambung and YWC, Langthabal pulled off similar wins yesterday to enter semi-finals of the XIII T-20 Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament hosted by the Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament.
In the replay of their quarterfinal matches that was abandoned due to rain, YPHU-N defeated SU-SVC, Sagolband by 6 wickets to set up a semi-final date with their split squad- YPHU-Warrior after YWC handed KCC, Kongba a 5-wicket defeat to set up a semi-final date with TCMDC, Thongju.
In the morning match, KCC opted to bat first but were dismissed for 60 runs in 12 overs before YWC cruised to the target in 10.2 overs with 5 wickets to spare.
KCC had a stuttering start slumped to 60 all out in 12 overs as YWC’s P Prakashmani (3/18), L Sasi (2/4) and L Samananda (2/2) struck regularly to give their rivals a tough time.
Only N Devkanta 23 off 22 balls and Bonny 16 off 15 balls made double digit runs for KCC in the innings that also saw Abujam Rojeshkumar of YWC claiming a wicket.
In reply, YWC struggled to the winning 61 thanks to L Sasi’s unbeaten 16 off 17 balls despite Chumthao (2/18) and Lamnganba (2/15) of KCC doing their best to unsettle their rivals.
Prakashmani who added 9 runs and picked three wickets was adjudged man of the match.
Later in the day, YPHU-N bundled out toss winners SU-SVC for 104 runs in 18.1 overs and eased to the winning 108 in 17.4 overs.
Sarangthem Shantikumar (3/15), Rajesh Khangembam (2/14) and Jinta Irengba (2/19) shone with the ball for YPHU-N as A Sanjoy 25 off 24 balls and Chingkheinganba Arambam 17 off 14 balls emerged leading run getters for the Sagolband side.
In reply, Dhaneshor 35 off 46 balls and Yumnam Robin 12 off 15 balls set up the momentum before Jinta Irengba anchored with an unbeaten 32 off 25 balls (3 fours and 1 six) to take YPHU-N to the winning 108/4 in 17.4 overs with Sarangthem Shantikumar 7 not out off 8 balls.
Chingkheinganba Arambam (1/13), A Sanjoy (1/16) and Konsam Rozer (1/6) were among the wickets for SU-SVC in the second innings.
I Jinta who starred with both the bat and ball was adjudged man of the match.
