4th Samaram Trophy State Level Open Football Tournament underway

Thoubal, Mar 22 :  The fourth edition of Samaram Trophy State Level Open Football Tournament 2026 organised by the Samaram Football Club (SFC) kicked off today with a function filled with cultural events.
The tournament featuring 18 teams clubbed into 4 groups was formally opened in the presence of Khangabok AC MLA, Okram Surjakumar as chief guest; Tompok Khangembam secretary of All Backward Class And Economic Development Organisation (ABCEDO), Samaram as functional president; CMO Thoubal Dr Y Nokul; DYASO Thoubal, Deven Moirangthem; social worker Leishang Thangjam and donor of 3rd Samaram Trophy’s winner prize  H Ibungo as guests of honour.
 The opening match of the tournament saw Football Lovers,  Nongpok Sekmai registering a 4-0 win over Tentha Brothers, Tentha
Tombung (32’) and Kabiraj (37’) contributed a goal apiece in Football Lovers’ victory before Arun hit a brace in the second half (58’, 59’) to seal the comprehensive win in the Group B match.
The tournament carries a cash prize of Rs 1,50,000 and a trophy sponsored by Leishna Package Drinking Water for the winners and Rs 50,000 and a trophy sponsored by ABCEDO  for the runners up.
Best player, best goalkeeper and top scorer will also receive a cash prize of Rs 5,000 each along with trophies while the best discipline team will receive a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and a trophy.
