Langthabal FC, TRVSA off to winning start in 24th Challenge Cup

IMPHAL, Mar 23 : Langthabal FC and TRVSA, Malom got off to flying starts in the 24th Challenge Cup Veterans Football Tournament 2026 that began yesterday at the natural turf ground of SAI-NERC, Takyel.
In the second Group C match of the tournament staged this afternoon, Langthabal FC rode on H Ishorchand’s treble to blank FLVKT, Kwakeithel 5-0.
H Ishorchand opened the scoring in the 12th minute and made it 2-0 after 21 minutes before Th Joykumar of the Kwakeithel side conceded an own goal in the 25th minute to make things easy for them.
Ishorchand then completed his treble in the 28th minute to give Langthabal FC a 4-0 first half lead before S Jiban hit the final nail on the FLVKT’s coffin in the  47th minute.
Later in the Group B opener, TRVSA, Malom defeated FFC, Ningombam by 2-0 goals courtesy of back to back strikes from  Kamei Gandhiba (34’) and Kh Jiten (38’).
EMVFC, Lamlai will play Thangmeiband FC in the Group D opener tomorrow from 2 pm before FLAM, Yaiskul meet MLVFA, Mayailambi in the Group A opening match from 3.15 pm.
