NRC before census call reiterated

IMPHAL, Mar 23 : The Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), Kangleipak conducted public discussion sessions at Awang Khunou Mayai Leikai playground and Lamboi Khongnangkhong yesterday over the need to update the National Register of Citizens (NRC) before the upcoming census exercise.
According to a press release, CSOs Kangleipak has been organising such sessions in different parts of the State to get a public consensus to defer the census exercise until the NRC is updated.
The session at Awang Khunou Mayai Leikai was organised in collaboration with Awang Khunou Youth Development Club at 2 pm. It was attended by the president of Anti Narcotic Drugs Organisation Kangleipak (ANDOK), Awang Khunou Mayai Leikai Meira Paibi and Awang Khunou Youth Development Club.
Meanwhile, the public discussion at Lamboi Khongnangkhong was held with the support of Ima Thougal Lup Meira Paibi at 3:30 pm. Notable dignitaries present include T Sanajaoba, vice chairman, 14 CSOs Kangleipak; S Merajao, Lai Committee member and P Bino, Meira Paibi Lamboi Khongnangkhong. The gatherings collectively agreed on the idea of "No NRC Update, No Census", resolving that the census exercise must be deferred until the NRC is updated.
