Statue of unsung hero of 1891 unveiled

IMPHAL, Mar 24 : Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Th Satyabrata, unveiled a statue of Sagolsem Dhono, the King's executioner, at the ground of Friends' Union Club at Singjamei Makha Khong-nang Pheidekpi today.
Notably, Satyabrata contributed the funds for the construction of the statue.
During the function, the gathering paid floral tributes to the statue of Dhono, who is remembered for beheading five British officers during the Anglo-Manipuri War of 1891 inside the Kangla Fort.
Speaking at the event, the Speaker emphasised the importance of instilling a sense of patriotism among the younger generations and urged the people to contribute to the well-being of the motherland.
