DM College of Science hosts National seminar

IMPHAL, Mar 25: The 1st National Conference on Emerging Skills in Biomaterial & Biomedical Sciences (NCESBBS) 2026 kicked off today at the Central Hall of Dhanamanjuri College of Science, DM University.
The three-day National seminar was organised by DM Community College and DM College of Science under the theme "Translating Advances in Basic Sciences & Humanities".
Speaking on the occasion, Professor W Chandbabu Singh, Vice Chancellor, DM University highlighted the need for people to update their skills in alignment with the changing landscape of science and technology, artificial intelligence, machine learning and data science.
It is time for DM University and other institutes to work with engineers, biologists, data science experts, scientists etc and for the advancement of biomedical and biomaterial science.
During the three-day seminar, experts will teach students from various institutes of the State about new beneficial ideas, he added.
At the inaugural session, Dr Th Dhabali Singh, CMD, Babina Healthcare noted the progress in information technology, computer science, telecommunication and healthcare delivery systems which have made life easier for all. According to Manishkumar Moirangthem, joint organising secretary of the seminar, experts will deliver oral and poster presentations spread across 8 sessions. Out of this, 6 sessions will feature experts from well-known institutes outside the State.
Other dignitaries who attended the inaugural programme of NCESBBS 2026 include Professor Ksh Birbal Singh, Principal, DM College of Science; Professor N Subhaschandra Singh, Nodal Officer, DM Community College and Dr Rakib Yumkhaibam, Managing Director, JR Groups.
The special technical sessions of the seminar will feature talks by Dr Thangjam Dhabali Singh on "Roles of Medical Technologies in Diagnostic Healthcare System"; Dr Vidhya Srinivasan, Professor and Dean (i/c), School of Allied Health Sciences, Girijananda Chowdhury University, Assam on "Understanding NCAHP and Its Implementation in Medical Laboratory Science"; Professor Th Salvia Devi, Principal, PEWS College of Paramedical Sciences, Assam on "Transforming Medical Laboratory Technology: The Role of Artificial Intelligence"; Professor Ng Joykumar Singh, Head, Department of Food Technology, College of Food Technology, CAU, Langol on "Post-Harvest Management of Pineapple Fruit for Sustainable Livelihood Development of Entrepreneurs in the North-Eastern Region of India"; Dr Dinesh M Tripathi, Associate Professor, Institute of Liver & Biliary Sciences, New Delhi on "From Organ to Organoid: Decoding Cholangiocyte-Driven Fibrogenesis as a Therapeutic Target in Liver Disease"; Dr Subhadeep Roy, Assistant Professor, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Jharkhand on "3D Microphysiological Disease Modelling and Tissue Engineering: Drug Screening to Personalised Therapy" and Dr Santanu Kaity, Assistant Professor, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education & Research (NIPER), Kolkata on "3D Printed Pharmaceuticals: From Ink Development to printed Finished Dosage Form" and Dr Subham Banerjee, Assistant Professor, NIPER, Guwahati on "Integration of Advanced Materials and Additive Manufacturing for Personalised Solutions in Allied Healthcare and Therapeutic Delivery".
The seminar will conclude on March 27.
