24th Challenge Cup TRVSA held by FLAK, AFFC stun Thangmeiband FC 3-1

IMPHAL, Mar 27 : TRVSA, Malom are assured of a quarterfinal berth as they were held to a 2-2 draw by FLAK, Kyamgei in the second Group B match of the ongoing 24th Challenge Cup Veteran Football Tournament at SAI-NERC grass turf at Takyel.
N Mocha put FLAK ahead after 23 minutes but the lead was cancelled by TRVSA, Malom within 2 minutes through Samson Pamei.
After settling the first half in a 1-1 draw, TRVSA who beat FFC, Ningombam 2-0 in the group opener, turned things around in the 56th minute through Kh Jiten but Ojit brought FLAK back into contention by scoring the equaliser in the 58th minute.
The game ended in a 2-2 draw despite efforts from both ends to find the winner.
Eventually, TRVSA go top and are assured of a quarterfinal berth.
Later in a Group D match, Thangmeiband FC who crushed EMVFC 5-0 in the league opener, went down 1-3 to AFFC, Imphal.
Ksh Kanta (25’), Md Chaoba (36’) and H Noren (54’) were on target for AFFC as Khupneingam Kom scored the consolation goal for Thangmeiband FC.
