IMPHAL, Mar 27: Citing ‘credible reports’ and independent findings, the United Kuki National Army (UKNA) has alleged serious irregularities in the distribution of rice under the NFSA and the One Nation, One Ration Card system in Churachandpur district.
Investigations indicate that IDPs and common citizens have been systematically exploited by certain officials and Meitei transport contractors involved in the supply of essential food grains, the UKNA alleged in a press release.
The UKNA has strongly condemned the blatant misuse of public resources meant for the most vulnerable sections of society.
Saying that all those responsible, particularly the Meitei transport contractors and officials from the CAF&PD Department be held fully accountable, the UKNA has demanded a fair and transparent inquiry and punishment of all those found guilty in accordance with the law without delay.
It has directed all individuals and entities involved in the matter to issue an unconditional public apology to the people of Churachandpur and Pherzawl districts through the media at the earliest.
Any contractor continuing such practices will face a complete ban from entering Churachandpur and Pherzawl districts, it said.
The UKNA has also warned all civil society organisations and community leaders against supporting or protecting those involved.
