Addl CS reviews New Integrated Terminal Building

Imphal, Mar 28 : Additional Chief Secretary (Transport & TCI) Anurag Bajpai reviewed the progress of construction of the New Integrated Terminal Building (NITB), its apron, its approach road from National Highway, power supply, water supply and other various ongoing projects at Imphal Airport yesterday.
The meeting held at project office of Airport Authority of India (AAI) was attended by Transport Director Khumanthem Diana Devi; Imphal West Deputy Commissioner Mayanglambam Rajkumar; Imphal West Superintendent of Police, Director of AAI and representatives of PWD, MPDCL, CISF and the project team.
It was noted that construction activities have resumed in full swing since the last review held in December 2025, following a prolonged delay due to various issues, including conflict-related challenges, said a statement from New Civil Secretariat.
The physical progress of the New Integrated Terminal Building project is currently around 50 per cent complete.
During the review, all agencies  concerned were instructed to strictly adhere to the time schedule set during the last review and ensure the completion of the NITB, apron, power supply, water supply, and other related works. All tasks must be completed before December 31, 2026, in line with the prescribed PDC date, according to the statement.
Imphal West DC and PWD officials were asked to expedite the Social Impact Assessment (SIA) process for acquisition of land for the construction of the approach road from NH to NITB.
Additionally, the Transport Department, in coordination with AAI, held discussions with Alliance Air officials regarding the early commencement of flight services on the Imphal–Silchar route, and also explored the feasibility of enhancing regional connectivity by linking Imphal with Dibrugarh Airport.
Furthermore, during the inspection of the new cargo terminal, the ACS, Transport Director, along with the Director of AAI and CISF officials, instructed the project agency to complete the installation of necessary machinery and commence operations of the cargo terminal by the latest deadline of April 30, 2026.
The Director of AAI was also requested to expedite necessary security clearances from BCAS to make it operational.
ACS concluded the meeting with a strong emphasis on inter-agency coordination, timely execution of project works, and the enhancement of regional air connectivity.
