IMPHAL, Mar 8 : Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam has appealed to the women of Manipur to play a central role in restoring peace in the State.
The Minister flagged off a cycle rally "Sundays on Cycle", organised as part of International Women’s Day celebrations at Khuman Lampak today.
The cycle rally, organised by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) under the supervision of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, was held under the theme "Let’s Ride for a Fitter India."
The rally which passed through various routes in Imphal was participated by around 700 individuals, including members of different cycling clubs and CRPF personnel.
At the flag-off ceremony, Govindas emphasised the importance of youth fitness for a vibrant Nation. He also called on women to take a central role in fostering peace in Manipur.
DIG of CRPF, Range Imphal H Premjit, Regional Director of SAI, North East, Dhandapani, YAS Secretary N Praveen and Director M Veto also attended the event, among others.
