Shija Foundation hails ‘Boong’ team on historic BAFTA win

Imphal, Mar 9 : The Shija Foundation has extended heartfelt congratulations to the team behind “Boong” for their groundbreaking victory at the 79th British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA).
The film made history as the first Indian production to win the Best Children’s and Family Film Award at the 79th BAFTA in London on February 22, 2026.
Directed by Lakshmipriya Devi and produced by Excel Entertainment, “Boong” tells the story of a young boy navigating Manipur’s socio-political realities.
The film triumphed over international contenders like Lilo & Stitch, Arco, and Zootopia 2. The team includes Gugun Kipgen as Boong, and local talent Angom Sanamatum, son of Shija Eye Care Foundation’s Optometrist Serina Potsangbam.
Parts of the film were shot at St Anthony’s School, a unit of Shija Foundation.
