24th Challenge Cup FLAM exit despite commanding 5-0 win over UKFC

IMPHAL, Mar 31 : FLAM, Yaiskul suffered exit from 24th Challenge Cup despite a dominating 5-0 win over UKFC, Uripok as they finished third in the Group A table.
Having registered 3-2 win over MLVFA in their previous match, FLAM raised their quarterfinal hopes with the huge win against UKFC courtesy of goals coming from S Lemba Kom (15’), S Ranjit (40’), M Somochandra (45’), L Akber (51’) and Y Sunil (53’).
They however bite the dust as MLVFA, Mayai Lambi and VFC, Kakwa made 1-2 finishes following MLVFA’s 6-5 win over VFC later in the day.
A Dilip (6’), Th Suranjoy (37’), Aken (43’), Opendro (58’, 60+2’) were on target for VFC today while Deepak scored four goals (22’, 24’, 40’, 58’) to set up the 6-5 win for the Mayai Lambi team. Ng Ratan (13’) and Premchand (27’) also contributed a goal apiece to MLVFA’s tally.
With today’s matches, the quarterfinal line up of the tournament being hosted by the Manipur Veteran Football Association at natural grass football ground, SAI-NERC, Takyel has been completed.
MLVFA will face EMFC, Lamlai in the first quarterfinal match on April 2 from 1.30 pm before AFFC, Imphal take on FLAK, Kyamgei from 3 pm in the second quarterfinal match.
On April 4, Keishamthong FC will play VFC, Kakwa from 1.30 pm in the third quarterfinal match before TRVSA, Malom face Thangmeiband FC in the last quarterfinal match from 3 pm.
