IMPHAL, Mar 31 : REYS, Nagamapal and NAPSA, Kha Imphal opened their league campaigns in the 3rd Khomdram (O) Hijam Mema Devi Memorial T-20 Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament on winning notes today.
In their Group A match opening match, REYS handed KSDO, Kyamgei an 8-wicket defeat riding on Kenny’s unbeaten 37 after Superjit, Iboyaima and Jagjit shone with the ball.
KSDO, who won the toss and opted to bat first, were dismissed for a paltry total of 97 runs in 19.2 overs with Superjit (3/25), Iboyaima (2/13) and Jagjit (2/4) sharing 7 crucial wickets and Nongdren (1/19) and Kenny (1/14) claiming a wicket apiece for REYS.
Khalilur Rahaman 36 off 46 balls and Mishara Khan 14 off 25 balls were the only double digit run getters for KSDO in the first innings as three batters departed on ducks and the rest managed single digit scores.
In reply, REYS lost Bonny 3 off 9 balls and Maikel 20 off 41 balls to Khalique (2/24) before Kenny 37 off 29 balls and Iboyaima 13 off 14 balls produced an unbeaten third wicket stand to take the team to the target in 15.3 overs.
Superjit of REYS who picked 3 wickets was adjudged man of the match.
In a Group B match, NAPSA also scripted an 8-wicket win over NCA, Nambol as Rishikanta picked four wickets to restrict NCA to 83/8 runs before Somorendro scored an unbeaten 46 off 26 balls to take the team to the winning 84/2 in 10.4 overs.
Milan 30 off 45 balls and Dhana Oinam 26 off 35 balls led the scoring for NCA today in the first innings that saw Rishikanta finishing with the best bowling figures of 4/3 in his spell of 4 overs and Simon claiming two wickets (2/6 in 3 overs).
Ratan (1/24) and Ibobi (1/6) were also among the wickets for NAPSA before Somorendro quickfired 46 and finished off the chase along with Rishikanta 14 not out off 14 balls.
Rishikanta of NAPSA who shone with both the bat and ball was declared man of the match.
