IMPHAL, Apr 9 : The Naga Women’s Union (NWU) has strongly condemned the tragic killing of two children in a bomb attack at Tronglaobi by suspected Kuki armed miscreants and the reckless action of the CRPF jawans leading to three deaths and multiple injuries.
In a press release, NWU has called upon the State and Central Government and the concerned authority to treat this as a top-priority case and bring the perpetrators to justice with the awarding of stringent punishment.
Expressing concern for the mother who sustained multiple splinter injuries and is undergoing treatment, NWU prayed for her speedy recovery and wholeness.
Stating that the inhumane attack has shaken the conscience of mothers and society at large, NWU firmly denounced the "barbaric and unacceptable act" as a women’s organization committed to justice and the protection of life.
Pointing out that such a grave crime occurred in close proximity to the CRPF camp, NWU called it a matter of great concern which raises serious questions.
Further commenting on the recklessness of the CRPF jawans who reportedly fired indiscriminately towards the public, NWU termed it "a terror act unleashed upon the unarmed civilian" and demanded the responsible officers and personnel to be held accoun- table as per the law of the land. At this time of deep grief, NWU extended its heartfelt condolences and solidarity to the bereaved mothers and their families.
"As mothers and women, we feel the deep pain of a bereaved mother who has lost her children without any warning and for no fault of theirs. We offer our prayers and full moral support during this difficult time" said the NWU statement.
It has urged all sections of society to reject violence in all its forms and work together to ensure a safe and peaceful future for children.
