CM hands over ex-gratia

IMPHAL, Apr 11 : Chief Minister Yumnam Khem-chand visited the Akampat relief camp in Imphal East today and met the family of the seven-year-old dis-placed girl from Moreh who was recently murdered.
During the visit, the Chief Minister handed over an ex-gratia amount of Rs 10 lakh to the bereaved family.
Accompanied by Im-phal East DC Dr Nivedita Lairenlakpam, Khem-chand also interacted with the family and other displaced persons (IDPs) staying at the camp.
He expressed his condolences, shared in the family's grief, and assured them of the Government's support during this difficult time.
Several IDPs, on the other hand, urged the Chief Minister to facilitate their resettlement and requested the deployment of an IRB battalion in Moreh for enhanced security.
Addressing these concerns, Khemchand empha- sised the importance of fostering harmony among communities as a crucial step toward resolving these issues.
In a post on social media, the Chief Minister reiterated that the well-being of all IDPs remains a top priority for the Government.
"After personally listening to their concerns and grievances, I have directed the concerned officials to take immediate and necessary measures to address their issues," he wrote.
The Government is focused on alleviating the hardships of IDPs and ensuring their rehabilitation and resettlement are carried out in a timely and meaningful manner, he said.
He also affirmed that the Government remains committed to standing by every affected family and working tirelessly to restore dignity, stability, and hope to their lives.
