IMPHAL, Apr 11
The proscribed RPF has appealed to all the people across the State to join the April 13 "Martyrs’ Day" observation.
On the eve of the Martyrs’ Day, the outfit and its armed wing PLA have paid homage to all the martyrs who laid down their lives for the cause of the motherland.
The outfit has also conveyed solidarity and paid deep respect to all the women who have lost their sons, husbands and all  those people who have been maimed for life due to the atrocities allegedly committed by the Indian armed forces.
A statement issued by the outfit’s Deputy Secretary, Publicity Roben Khuman asserted that the names of PLA fighters who laid down their lives in the freedom struggle of Manipur will continue to shine like bright stars forever.
It said that the battle of Kodompokpi fought on April 13, 1982 will remain as a beacon of the liberation movement and its story will be passed from generation to generation.
Following the footsteps of the martyrs, the PLA will continue to fight relentlessly until Manipur is liberated, it said.
It said that many more revolutionary fighters as well as civilians will die as the liberation movement escalates but the movement will bring a peaceful, stable and self-reliant Manipur.
In the course of the liberation movement being waged by RPF and other revolutionary organisations, thousands of people have paid with their lives while tens of thousands suffered casualties, the outfit said.
As the juggernaut of alleged State persecution rolls on, the casualties will only mount, it said.
When the people of a Nation stand firmly for its independence, and the people are courageous enough to lay down their lives for freedom, the Nation will not remain under foreign occupation for long, the outfit asserted.
Developing memorial sites for the martyrs who have laid down their lives in the struggle to regain the right to self-determination, and offering homage to them go a long way in protecting the Nation from complete downfall, domination by foreign power and obliteration of its identity, it said.
Transformation from a civilian to a revolutionary, shedding blood in battlefields and ultimately sacrificing one’s life are nothing to be surprised. It is an indication of a strong sense of nationalism and bravery, it said.
“If we all follow the footsteps of the martyrs, no foreign power can keep Manipur under their occupation for long”, the outfit asserted.
“The sacrifice of the martyrs who fought till their last breath even after they were surrounded and outnumbered by Indian armed forces is a constant source of inspiration to all of us”, it said.
The outfit then appealed to all hill people and plain people to spare some time to pay floral tributes to the martyrs at their memorials and join the Martyrs’ Day observation on April 13, 2026.
It appealed to all the people to light up lamps at each and every residential gate in the evening of the same day.
The outfit further appealed to all the people not to hold any entertainment or merry-making programme on the day.
