IMPHAL, Apr 12 : The Joint Action Committee (JAC), formed in response to the bombing at Tronglaobi that claimed the lives of two siblings, has appealed to the public to refrain from sharing unverified posts on social media that could damage the Committee's reputation.
The JAC also clarified that it has not reached any agreement with the Government regarding the incident.
Addressing a press conference at Tronglaobi Awang Leikai today, Sinam Ajitkumar, the JAC convenor, stated that the Committee has not accepted any money from the Government, nor has it entered into any agreement regarding the incident.
He emphasized that the JAC's stance remains unchanged, and it will continue to seek justice for the victims.
Ajitkumar further explained that the JAC had submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister, urging the initiation of a judicial inquiry into the Tronglaobi bombing, the arrest of Kuki militants responsible for killing the two children, and the imposition of capital punishment on those responsible.
The memorandum also urged the Government to take responsibility for the bombing, launch a military crackdown on Kuki militant groups, deploy State forces in peripheral areas of valley districts in place of Central security personnel, and take action against Central forces that fired on protesters, killing three people.
He added that the JAC has informed the Government that they will not claim the victims' bodies or allow good vehicles to travel to Churachandpur until their demands are met.
Saying that the Government has provided a positive response, Ajitkumar clarified that no agreement has been reached regarding financial matters.
He once again urged the public not to share unverified posts on social media.
