AIFF U-18 Elite League TYDA, ASUFII FA kick-start Final Round Playoff on winning notes

IMPHAL, Apr 13 : Toubul Youth Development Association (TYDA) based in Bishnupur district and Senapati district outfit ASUFII FA, who finished Zonal Group stage competition of the AIFF U-18 Elite League as runners up teams made winning start to the Final Round Playoff today.
In a Group A final round playoff match, TYDA thrashed Ahmedabad based ARA FC by 4-1 goals at Ramsar Sahib Sports Stadium, Paddi Sura Singh in Punjab.
TYDA made a slow start to lead the first half with a slender 1-0 margin before pumping in three more goals in the second half to seal the comfortable victory.
TYDA skipper Naorem Goutam found the breakthrough in the 44th minute as he made no mistake in converting a penalty kick before doubling the advantage in the 57th minute.
Salam Tomthin further swelled the lead by slotting home at the stroke of the 60th minute mark before Ningthoujam Jackson struck TYDA’s decisive goal in the 78th minute.
Zonal Group (C) stage runners up, ARA FC found a face saving goal three minutes into the stoppage time to make it 1-4.
Notably, TYDA registered 7 wins (four home wins and 3 away wins) and played out two away game draws in 10 matches to finish Group J runners up in the zonal stage behind Classic FA, who topped the table on 28 points from 9 wins and a draw.
TYDA will play Zonal Group Stage (Group D) runners up, Football Club Mangalore in the next playoff match on April 15 at today’s venue.
Later in a Group B final round playoff match staged at the same venue, ASUFII FA, who finished Group I runners up in the zonal stage edged past Group F runners up Sreenidi Deccan Football Club, Hyderabad by 2-1 goals.
Lamminthang Kipgen (30’) and Wangkheirakpam John (45+2’) gave ASUFII FA a 2-0 first half lead before Mohammed Omar Farooq scored the consolation goal for Sreenidi Deccan Football Club in the 75th minute.
ASUFII FA will square off against Corbett FC, who finished Group A second runners up in the zonal stage, in the second match on April 15.
