IMPHAL/Bpr, Apr 13: All major markets in Bishnupur have remained closed affecting trade and normal life even nearly a week after the Tronglaobi incident that killed two children.
Moirang Keithel, Moirang Lamkhai Keithel, Kumbi Keithel, Ningthou-khong Keithel and Bishnu- pur Keithel are all shut without any sign of opening soon.
While some smaller local markets are open, a majority of them have not opened to trade till today.
However, one of the major markets, Nambol Keithel has returned to normal. The market came to life after 12 pm yesterday.
With the opening of the Nambol market, inter village passenger services also resumed with some vehicles operating today.
Nonetheless, roads were blocked at different places--Moirang Lamkhai, Moirang Keithel, Kumbi Thong-khong and Kumbi Tera- khong and Bishnupur forest gate area. Sit-in protest was held at Thamnapokpi.
Even though markets and shops were opened during the day, protest demonstrations were also organised at many places in Imphal today.
Khagempalli ldeal Club and Sandrembi Nupi Lup organised a protest demonstration at Khagempalli. The protesters raised slogans demanding justice for the two children killed in the April 7 attack. They also denounced the CRPF firing on April 7 which resulted in the death of 3 persons.
A torch rally was carried out at Nongpok Keithe-lmanbi village in the evening.
