IMPHAL, Apr 1 : Around 3 to 4 rounds of gunfire, believed to have been fired by Kuki militants, were heard today around 4 pm in Natum Ching hill range.
The sounds were heard by security personnel stationed in the area, as well as locals of Sanasabi village.
According to police sources, the gunshots originated from the top of Natum Ching hill, located in the periphery area of Imphal East and Kangpokpi districts under Yaingangpokpi police station.
The gunfire occurred while Central armed forces were conducting routine patrol in the area.
Residents of nearby villages, including Sanasabi, Thamnapokpi, and others in the area, also reported hearing the gunshots.
However, sources have confirmed that the situation remains calm in Sanasabi, Thamnapokpi, and the surrounding Meetei villages.
Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation closely and maintain security in the area.
