Charges framed against two

IMPHAL, Apr 2: The Court of Session Judge, Bishnupur has framed charges against two accused   in connection with the murder case of 21-year-old Meitei Salai Thiyam of Palace Compound, Govindajee Road after a scuffle on July 6 afternoon, 2025 at Thanga Khunjem Leikai, Bishnupur district under Keibul Lamjao police station.
The same Court has discharged two other accused.
The IO concerned submitted a charge sheet after completion of the investigation against four accused namely; Loitongbam Pinky 22 d/o (L) Nilamani of Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai, Leishangthem Lanchenba (20) s/o Loken of Hiyangthang Maning Leikai, Lamabam Taibanganbi (27) d/o Amuchou of Nagamapal Kangjabi Machin and Yumlembam Kelvin (23) s/o Allen of Palace Compound near Advance Hospital for taking cognizance and trial.
The Session Court, after hearing the submission of a PP of the state, defence counsels of the accused persons and on perusal of the submitted charge sheet, fixed today for announcement of charge order.
In addition to the PP, all the alleged accused persons were present at the Court today along with their respective counsels.
The Session Judge passed an order to frame charges against Loitongbam Pinky Devi and Leishangthem Lanchenba Singh under different sections of BNS and discharged Yumlembam Kelvin and Lamabam Taibanganbi from the trial of the case.    
The Court fixed April 28 for submission/recording statements of the first prosecution witness.
On July 6 last year, the accused persons and the victim along with three other companions went for sightseeing at Thanga area.
For some reasons, a scuffle broke out between the accused persons and the victim at Khunjem Leikai during which the victim was stabbed by Loitongbam Pinky using a knife.  
The victim sustained serious injuries and was evacuated to Community Health Centre (CHC), Moirang from where he was referred to Asian Hospital.
However, the victim succumbed to the injuries during treatment at Asian Hospital. Subsequently, a suo moto case was registered at Keibul Lamjao police station for investigation. On the same evening, the accused persons surrendered at Nambol police station along with the murder weapon (knife).
