Veteran cricket: YCC Wangkhei, SU-SVC secure wins

IMPHAL, Apr 2: YCC Wangkhei and SU-SVC Sagolband emerged victorious in today's matches of the 3rd Khomdram (O) Hijam Mema Memorial T-20 Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament 2026 at Langthabal Public Ground, Imphal.
YCC Wangkhei beat UCC Uripok by 8 wickets, and SU-SVC Sagolband secured a 7-wicket win over CHAMP Khagempalli.
The first match of the day saw UCC Uripok winning the toss and opting to bat first to score 129 runs for 10 wickets in 19.5 overs.
YCC Wangkhei were able to complete the chase and score 130 runs for 2 wickets in just 16.4 overs.
Madankumar (28 runs off 22 balls), Nahakpam Helendro (23 runs off 29 balls), Prasenjit Nongmaithem (15 runs off 10 balls), Joyshangkar (12 runs off 15 balls), Trimal Khumancha (10 runs off 7 balls), Sapam Rajkumar Singh (10 runs off 12 balls), Kh David (8 runs off 12 balls), Manglem (8 runs off 6 balls), and Swami (6 runs off 5 balls) contributed runs for UCC Uripok to score 129 runs.
YCC's Laishram Everest Meitei took 4 wickets. G Binishan Sharma took 3 wickets and Sanjit Sharma scalped one wicket.
For YCC to win, Sanjit Laishram scored 19 runs off 15 balls, G Binishan Sharma scored 26 runs off 29 balls, Loya Meitei scored 32 runs off 33 balls and Pritam Sharma scored 34 runs off 23 balls.
Manglem and Hemjit took the two YCC wickets.
The second match at the same ground saw CHAMP Khagempalli opting to bat first and scoring 114 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs.
SU-SVC Sagolband scored 115 runs for 3 wickets in  15.4 overs to win the match.
Gopeshore knocked a massive 40 runs including 7 fours off 35 balls for CHAMP to score 114 runs in 20 overs.
Rocket Khangembam (14 runs off 21 balls), Thomas (10 runs off 16 balls), S John (100 runs off 9 balls), Bindyashwor Moirangthem (9 runs off 10 balls), Naresh Ningombam (9 runs off 18 balls) and Ph Umakanta (6 runs off 12 balls) contributed runs.
SU-SVC's Bedamohon took 3 wickets, Rajkumar Robindro Singh and Rahul RK scalped one wicket each.
SU-SVC's winning chase saw Baleshor Maisnam knocking 33 runs off 37 balls, Prameshor Sharma scoring 29 runs off 13 balls, Rahul RK scoring 17 runs off 26 balls, RK Pritam Singh scoring 17 runs off 17 balls, and Th Pyarlal Meetei scoring 1 run off 1 balls.
S John and Paran Das took the two SU-SVC wickets.
