Khemchand hails ‘The Nightmare of Bembi’

IMPHAL, Apr 3 : Chief Minister Yumnam Khem-chand has extended heartfelt appreciation and commendation to the team behind Manipuri short film “The Nightmare of Bembi” which bagged the Best Psychological Drama Award at the Indian Panorama International Film Festival 2025-26.
Directed by Tenzing Pukhrambam, the 23-minute film is based on the traumatic experience of the titular character, a girl named Bembi, amid the unrest in Manipur and marks Tenzing's directorial debut.
In a Facebook post, the Chief Minister said the film stands as a compelling reflection of the conflict situation and its far-reaching consequences. It presents a powerful narrative marked by depth, sensitivity and unforgettable memory.
“This achievement underscores the creative excellence and storytelling strength of Manipur's film fraternity”, he added.
The Chief Minister has lauded the team for bringing laurels to the State and for elevating Manipuri cinema to the global stage.
Director Tenzing had earlier worked as a scriptwriter for the web series "Ehool".  and the screenplay for two feature films.
