IMPHAL, Apr 3 : As observed across the globe, Manipur Baptist Convention Centre Church also observed Good Friday today at Chingmeirong in commemoration of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ at Calvary.
On the occasion, MBC Centre Church Pastor Rev Zuankamang Daimai led a worship service accompanied by the offering of prayers and worship songs.
Rev Zuankamang Daimai also offered prayers to Jesus Christ for peace and normalcy to return in the State which has seen the outbreak of violence affecting many citizens.
"Grant peace and harmonious co-existence to the different communities in Manipur. May Jesus Christ bless Manipur with peace", he said.
Deacon Dr T Sonchung Koren also delivered a sermon during the service.
The Manipur Baptist Convention has also urged people to come together to celebrate the triumph of life over death and sin, and the promise of eternal hope on the occasion of Easter Sunday which falls on April 5.
In a press release, MBC expressed hope that the sacred Resurrection Sunday (April 5) will bring renewed faith, love, and unity to the Christian community in Manipur and beyond.
It has urged people to extend their compassion and kindness to everyone around them- neighbours, families and even those in need of reconciliation, along with the hope that the joy of Easter will fill people's hearts and homes with peace and happiness.
