IMPHAL, Apr 5 : The killing of four cadres of NSCN/GPRN on March 28 at Hongbei village by NSCN (IM) was not accidental but "habitual," the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has said, asserting same acts have been meted out to the Zeliangrong kindred and other Naga people in the past.
In a statement issued by Louis Gangmei, its secretary, information and publicity, ZUF said the public of the Tangkhul community were forced to resort to burning down the NSCN (IM) Wung Tangkhul Region office as their voices were not heard.
The name, NSCN (IM) has been associated with activities of violence, communalism and extortions in the society, alleged the ZUF.
"Their account of infightings, creation of many Naga factions, killing of thousands of Naga National workers in the name of Shillong Accord and continual attempt to disintegrate the Zeliangrong people and their political issues, instigating hatred and divisions among the Nagas, have been whitewashed and kept long under cover in the pretext of taking the common Naga cause and leading the Indo-Naga talk with the GOI, alleged the ZUF.
The superiority complex consonant with dictatorial rule over the Nagas and the Zeliangrong people in particular have been the cause of division, infightings and downfall of the Nagas, that must be equivocally measured and cracked down if Nagas are to come to a common term again, it said.
Mere apology or statement of forgiveness will never suffice to do away the divine retribution. The proposed effort of NSCN (IM) to depute an investigating team to probe the matter is an attempt to appease the Nagas and make good with the affected community as it has been their only resorted option. The Naga People Initiative for Peace is also an attempt prompted to abet the recent situation in the interest and inducement of the NSCN (IM), claimed the ZUF, condemning the killing of the cadres.
