ASMITA Fencing League concludes, Imphal East athletes dominate

IMPHAL, Apr 6 : ASMITA Fencing League 2025-26 conducted by the Manipur Fencing Association at Khuman Lampak Fencing Hall concluded today.
The two-day event saw a healthy participation of 80 athletes in the junior, cadet and sub-junior categories.
Imphal East athletes swept sub-junior girls’ foil and epee medals with Chanam Jareena and Chilsilla Sagolsem securing gold medals.
Chanam Jareena beat compatriot Naorem Joshlin to seal the foil gold as Yurica Pungmayum and Ayekpam Josina settled for the bronze medals.
Chilsilla Sagolsem meanwhile beat compatriot Ningombam Bindiya for the epee gold medal as Hijam Loyanganbi and Naorem Deshita bagged bronze medals.
Erica Nongmaithem also beat Selina Saikhom in an all Imphal East final sabre final as IW’s Joyshree Konjengbam and IE’s Thaja Okram shared the bronze medal podium.
IE’s Rashina Naorem beat compatriot Pushpa Chungkham for the cadet category’s foil gold as Ngashepam Merina and Chanam Jareena  settled for the bronze medals.
In the cadet girls epee event, Piyanganbi Naoroibam beat Guruaribam Keniya in an all Imphal East final as Hijam Bhumika and Hijam Loyanganbi of the same district claimed the bronze medals.
IE athletes also dominated the sabre medals for cadet girls with Payal Ningombam defeating Huiningshumbam Nirupama for the gold medal and Konsam Yaipharembi and Aheibam Florina sharing the bronze medal podium.
Junior girls’ foil gold medal also went to Imphal East’s Ngashepam Merina who beat compatriot Maibam Geetarani in the final while Rashina Naorem of Imphal West and H Tonibia of Imphal East made bronze medal finishes.
L Chinglembi meanwhile claimed the epee gold medal beating Piyanganbi Naoroibam in an all Imphal East final as Konsam Jenita and Nganthoi Okram of the district settled for the bronze medals.
Payal Ningombam of Imphal East also sealed the junior girls’ sabre gold beating compatriot Aheibam Florina as Pebam Babydaina and Silkiya Loukrakpam of the same district finished third to earn bronze medals.
