IMPHAL, Apr 6 : Babina Group 65th Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament 2025-26 kicked off this afternoon at Mapal Kangjeibung.
The 29-team tournament organised by the All Manipur Football Association was formally opened in the presence of Losii Dikho, Deputy Chief Minister; M Devananda, Addl Advocate General, Manipur; TS Chamnam Anal, president DSA Chandel; K Birendra, president DFA Moirang; Dr Th Dhabali, managing director, Babina Healthcare and Hospitality Pvt Ltd and BD Kowar, acting president, All Manipur Football Association as presidium members.
The opening match (Group A) saw Regular Football Coaching Centre (RFCC), Keinou and PATHAP FC, Lilong playing out a 1-1 draw.
PATHAP FC dominated the earlier proceedings and took a 1-0 first half lead courtesy of Md Janab Khan’s 38th minute strike but RFCC fought back relentlessly and drew level late in the 79th minute with H Torres finding the target.
The two sides fought hard to find the difference but lack of finesse and accuracy forced them to settle the game in a 1-1 draw.
AIM will play NEROCA FC in the second Group A match tomorrow from 12.15 pm before IYFC meet IFA from 2.30 pm in the Group B opener.
