IMPHAL, Apr 6 : The All Manipur Christian Organization (AMCO) has strongly condemned the incidents of violence and firing reported in Litan area of Ukhrul district during the past week, including on the sacred day of Easter Sunday.
At this critical moment, AMCO has appealed to all Christian communities and people of Manipur, irrespective of tribe or denomination, to immediately cease all forms of violence and hostility, said a press release.
AMCO has also called upon Church leaders, civil society organizations, and community authorities to rise with urgency and responsibility to promote peace, dialogue, and healing among all communities.
It has urged all believers to return to the foundational truths of the Gospel—to love, to forgive, to reconcile, and to ‘live out our faith not merely in words, but in action and truth.’
AMCO has termed the incidents of violence a "grave contradiction to the Christian faith".
What is most grievous to AMCO is the painful reality that communities professing the same Christian faith—sharing the same Bible, worshipping the same Lord, and called to live by the same teachings—are engaged in conflict against one another.
According to AMCO, this stands in direct contradiction to the very essence of Christianity.
"We cannot proclaim Christ with our lips and deny Him by our actions", it asserted.
