IMPHAL, Apr 6 : Thingbaijam Avinash enjoyed a fifer as NCA, Nambol stun ESU, Wangkhei Palace Compound by 162 runs in a Group A match of the 5th MNCA Boys U14 One Day Trophy.
Asked to bat first at Model Hr Sec and Oriental College ground, NCA were bundled out for 208 runs in 25.5 overs courtesy of half century knocks from Thongam Rahul (67 off 30; 9 fours and 3 sixes) and Ngangom Likash (55 off 62 balls; 7 fours) before Thingbaijam Avinash (5/15 in 4.3 overs) and M Thoithoiba (3/2 in 2 overs) ran through the ESU lineup and set up their collapse at 46 within 12.3 overs to seal the huge win.
Earlier in the first innings, Joshu (3/41 in 6 overs), Rood Chan Ningthoujam (3/35 in 3.5 overs) and Ningombam Naren (3/43 in 6 overs) shared 9 wickets for ESU before none of them could register a double digit score in the chase.
Th Avinash who shone with a fifer was adjudged player of the match.
Elsewhere at Moijing Public Ground, KSDO, Kyamgei crushed WYC, Thoubal Wangkhem by 353 runs for the second straight Group C victory.
KSDO skipper Kh Firdos took centre-stage in this match as he scored an unbeaten 63-ball 94 to guide KSDO to 372/4 in 30 overs before claiming 6 wickets and lead in dismantling WYC for just 19 runs within 8.3 overs.
Being put in to bat first, KSDO had a flourishing start with Khutheibam Abu Sufiyan 74 off 30 balls (12 fours and 4 sixes) and Mujamin 135 off 79 balls (15 fours and 5 sixes) putting up 125 runs for the first wicket in 7.4 overs.
Mujamin and Firdos then blasted 172 runs together to take KSDO close to 300-run mark before Kh Firdos played a lone hand to punish WYC bowlers and struck 8 fours and 2 sixes enroute to his unbeaten 93.
Md Altamash 2/54 and Wangkhem Tomthinganba 2/52 were among the wickets for the Wangkhem team before they fell flat in the face of KSDO bowlers.
None of the WYC batters managed double digit runs while 6 batters departed on ducks as Kh Firdos picked 6 wickets (6/11 in 4.3 overs) and Md Gunbas claimed the other four wickets (4/6 in 4 overs) to cut short the innings within 8.3 overs.
Firdos was adjudged player of the match.
In a Group F match staged at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground, YAL, Thoubal opened their league campaign with a 5-wicket win over Al-Ameen, Lilong.
YAL’s Tonthoi (5/23) and Thokchom Nelson (3/10) led in dismantling toss winners Al-Ameen for 90 runs in 24.2 overs before 38 extras and leading knocks from Kh Punshiba 20 and Thokchom Nelson 14 took the team to the winning 95/5 in 13.4 overs.
Meanwhile at Lairenjam Public Ground, RCA hammered BKCC, Bamon Kampu by 217 runs for the second straight Group B win.
Heibokmayum Lucky Ahmed hit an unbeaten 58-ball 95 after Afiq Hussain added a 67-ball 61 to help RCA post 258/5 in the allotted 30 overs before Lucky Ahmed (5/15 in 4 overs) and Farhan Ahmed (3/5 in 1.5 overs) led in dismissing BKCC for 41 runs in 11.5 overs.
Lucky Ahmed was eventually adjudged player of the match.
In a Group E match staged elsewhere at Khudeiband Lampak, YUCC, Kwakeithel Moirangpurel beat LCC, Lamshang by 26 runs.
