AI Inter University Thang-Ta Competition MUC go top with 5 gold and 2 bronze medals

IMPHAL, Apr 7 : Manipur University of Culture (MUC) stretched their lead in the medal tally of the All India Inter University Thang-Ta (M&W) Competition adding three more gold and 2 bronze medals on the second day at Dr Kamal Indoor Stadium, Manipur University.
Kangujam Sanand, S Malemnganbi and N Anjali won gold medals for Manipur University of Culture today as Rex Koijam and Ph Bishorjit settled for the bronze medals.
Sanand won the gold medal in the men’s Phunaba Ahanba -62 kg category event beating E Manivasakam of Karpagam Academy of Hr Edn in the final as Abhishek of University of Patanjali and R Arivarasu of Tamil Nadu PES University settled for the bronze medals.
S Malemnganbi meanwhile secured the women’s Phunaba Anishuba gold medal for - 56 kg category by defeating L Linthoi Chanu of National Sports University. Soniya of University of Patanjali and Manidipa Debnath of The IFCAI University bagged the bronze medal in the said weight class.
N Anjali meanwhile bagged MUC’s third gold medal of the day in the women’s Phunaba Anishuba for + 76 kg category by beating Mansi of University of Patanjali. Muskan of Shridhar University and N Priyanka of Dhanamanjuri University settled for the bronze medals.
The day also saw Tamil Nadu Physical and Sports University securing 2 gold medals, 1 silver and 1 bronze medal with R Tharmika beating Nisha Kumar of National Sports University in the women’s Phunaba Anishuba -60 kg category final and G Senthamizhi defeating Tabish Mushtaq of Islamic University of Sc & Tech. in the -76 kg category final.
Naina of University of Patanjali bagged the bronze medal in the women’s Phunaba Anishuba -60 kg category competition as compatriot Kirti bagged the -64 kg category gold medal.
The day also saw Sagolsem Rabinash securing a gold medal for the hosts by beating Haseeb Shafi of University of Kashmir in the men’s Phunaba Ahanba -58 kg category final. Rex Koijam of MUC and Raman of Bhagwant University settled for the bronze medal in this event.
Men’s Phunaba Ahanba -66 kg category gold meanwhile went to Sahil Nath of The ICFAI University as he got the better of Bony Kongkham of Manipur University. Ph Bishorjit of MUC and Atul of University of Patanjali settled for the bronze medals in this category.
Gauhati University’s Rafiya Yasmin Saikia in the meantime picked the women’s Phunaba Anishuba -68 kg category gold medal by defeating Minaz Naqvi of Apex University as Bhawna of University of Patanjali and Soniya of Shridhar University bagged the bronze medals. Preeti Kanwar of Bhagwant University on the other hand picked women’s Phunaba Anishuba -72 kg category gold by getting better of N Swetha of TN Physical & Sports University.
