KANGPOKPI, Apr 7: Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen on Tuesday expressed profound grief and strongly condemned the killing of two children and injuring their mother in Bishnupur district.
Describing the incident as “deeply distressing and wholly unacceptable,” Kipgen said the loss of innocent lives strikes at the very conscience of society and demands collective introspection and responsibility.
She extended her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and wished a speedy recovery to the injured mother.
The Deputy Chief Minister also voiced serious concern over the ongoing firing incidents in Ukhrul district, stating that continued violence only exacer- bates fear, disrupts normal life, and weakens the social fabric.
Urging all sides to exercise maximum restraint, she appealed to those involved to desist from any actions that could further escalate tensions, stressing that at this critical juncture, "maintaining peace and safe- guarding civilian lives must remain our highest priority." “Violence can never be a solution. It is only through dialogue, and mutual respect that lasting harmony can be achieved,” she said.
Kipgen further appealed to the public to remain calm, avoid rumours and misinformation, and cooperate with authorities in restoring normalcy.
Reiterating the Government’s resolve, the Deputy CM said that the Government remains firmly committed to upholding the rule of law, ensuring justice, and fostering an environment of peace, stability and unity for all communities in the State.
