IMPHAL, Apr 8 : Condemnations continue to pour in from different quarters over the dastardly bomb attack of April 7 which took the lives of two innocent sleeping children at Tronglaobi Awang Leikai in Bishnupur district.
In the midst of this tragedy, questions have also been raised over the conduct of the CRPF jawans who fired live rounds indiscriminately at a protesting crowd, leading to three deaths and causing injuries to around 25 individuals.
FOCS
In a press release, the Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS), Manipur and its allied groups EPOM, UMO, MWF, PALEM, MPF, WMO, MKNM, LEVYM, YMKL, Anouba Senmitlon, MMWO, MPCM, KUCMA and Ningol Club have expressed grief over the bomb attack and the killing of civilians at the hands of CRPF jawans yesterday.
It also lauded the swift arrest of three United Kuki National Army (UKNA) cadres following the killings of the two children.
However, the repeated attempts by Kuki militants through acts of violence to derail Manipur's slow return to peace should not be taken lightly. Until the masterminds behind such heinous attacks are brought to justice, it is implausible for peace to return in Manipur, it said.
FOCS has also demanded stringent action under the law against the CRPF personnel responsible for the deaths and injuries of civilians.
AMCO
Issuing strong condemnations over the tragic and inhumane killing of two innocent children and the injury to their mother, the  All Manipur Christian Organization (AMCO) has expressed serious concern over the continued failure to ensure the safety and security of innocent citizens in Manipur.
AMCO has called upon the authorities to swiftly identify and bring the perpetrators to justice, strengthen security in vulnerable areas, and initiate sincere and effective peace-building measures. It has further appealed to all stakeholders-CSOs, Church leaders, community leaders, and Government authorities-to rise above divisions and work collectively towards a peaceful and lasting resolution.
Extending their condolences and solidarity to the bereaved family, AMCO has prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured mother and urged the Central Government to take immediate, concrete, and decisive measures to restore peace and normalcy before the situation deteriorates further.
Macha Leima
Manipuri Chanura Leishem Marup (Macha Leima) has also condemned the deadly bomb attack which left the mother Oinam ongbi Binita with grievous injuries and seeking treatment at Raj Medicity.
Further denouncing the deadly firing by CRPF, Macha Leima has demanded immediate cessation of such atrocities on the public by the security forces.
In connection with the Tronglaobi killings, a protest demonstration was staged at Naoremthong Khumanthem Leikai organised by Chaokhat Thourang Nupi Marup and Takyel Khongbal Progressive Youth Association.
The protesters wielded placards with messages such as "Government do your duty", "Give us the right to life, let us live in peace", "Long live Manipur", "Eliminate Kuki narco terrorists from Manipur", "Award stringent punishment to civilian killers" etc.
Meanwhile, sit-in protests and road blockades were also seen at Awang Leikinthabi, Awang Wabagai and Thingri in Imphal West against the Tronglaobi bomb attack.
