IMPHAL, May 15 : Condemning the abduction of innocent Konsakhul Naga villagers on May 13, the Liangmai Council Nagaland has demanded the safe release of all hostages.
It is worth noting that 14 Nagas were released today in exchange for 14 abducted Kukis (28 released in total today).
In a press release, Liangmai Council Nagaland has accused Kuki militants of abducting the Naga villagers and called the "barbaric and cowardly act" a gross violation of human dignity and the rule of law.
It demanded immediate, safe and unconditional release of all innocent Konsakhul Naga villagers without any further delay.
The Council further warned that failure to ensure their safe release will compel the Council and the Naga people across the States to take strong collective measures and retaliation in defense of the safety, dignity and rights of innocent Naga civilians.
"Any untoward consequences arising from this grave situation shall rest entirely upon the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) and the concerned Kuki civil society leadership", the Council has warned.
