65th CC Meet AIM hammer NEROCA FC 6-0, IYFC edge Imphal FA 3-2

IMPHAL, May 18 : Anouba Imagi Mangal (AIM), Khabam ran riot to devastate NEROCA FC by 6-0 goals as Imphal Youth Football Club (IYFC) edged Imphal FA by 3-2 goals in today’s matches of the Babina Group 65th Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament 2025-26.
In the second match (Group A) of the tournament staged this afternoon at Mapal Kangjeibung, AIM came out all guns blazing to take stun NEROCA FC defence and take a 4-0 first half lead before pumping in two more goals in the second half to open their league campaign on a bright note.
Sapam Toper shone in the match netting thrice including the opener in the 30th minute before his teammates Amom Yohenba (34’) and Thiyam Amujao (35’) scored in the rapid fire fashion to further extend the lead. Toper netted his second in the 44th minute to hand AIM a commanding 4-0 lead till the break before Saikhom Abinash joined the fray and scored the team’s fifth in the 54th minute. Toper rose again to convert a penalty in the 67th minute and sealed the landslide 6-0 win.
In the Group B opening match staged later in the day, IYFC rode on goals from P Sorormi Thingsang (7’) and Irungbam Punshiba (41’) to enter the break with a 2-1 lead before Yumnam Sanajaoba fired home the decisive goal in the 84th minute.
Yokmipam Awungchihui, who pulled back a goal earlier in the 21st minute, had netted the equaliser for Imphal FA in the 79th minute before Sanajaoba’s goal made all the difference.
USA will play TRUGPU in a Group C match tomorrow from 1 pm at Mapal Kangjeibung before Juvenile take on Utlou FC from 3 pm.
