IMPHAL, May 18 : FC Imphal and YWC, Th kept their unbeaten streaks alive in the Group B competition of the 16th AMFA Senior Women’s Football League by playing out a 2-2 draw this afternoon at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.
Fresh off a commanding 6-2 victory over MUFA for the second straight victory, YWC-Th drew first blood early in the 4th minute through Rosy Thanga, before Sagolshem Ronika doubled the advantage in the 12th minute.
However, FC Imphal—who entered the match following a dominant 8-0 demolition of ICSA for the second win on the trot—fought back valiantly. Phanjoubam Abema halved the deficit in the 25th minute, and Yumlembam Sunibala netted the equaliser in the 58th minute to level the score.
With the table wide open, both sides pushed hard to break the deadlock and claim the top spot, but resilient defending at both ends ensured the spoils were shared.
FC Imphal will play MUFA in their final league match on May 20 from 1 pm at the Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong before YWC-Th meet KRYPHSA in the ultimate Group B match from 3 pm at the same venue.
