IMPHAL, May 19 : TCMDC, Thongju; RCA, Lilong; KSDO, Kyamgei and SHADOW, Thangmeiband are into the quarterfinals of the 5th MNCA Boys U15 One Day Trophy as they posted pre-quarterfinal victories at four different venues.
At Lairenjam Public Ground, TCMDC beat NCA, Nambol by 3 wickets to earn their place in the last-8 round courtesy of S Gerwyn’s prolific bowling performance.
NCA won the toss and opted to bat first. But they were bundled out for 99 runs in 24.2 overs as AKSDO S Gerwyn enjoyed a five wicket haul (5/7) while Pibarel Khongbantabam (2/23), Sagolsem Bolyson (1/18) and Ningthoujam Lanchenba (1/12) shared other four crucial wickets.
AKSDO then chased down the target in 22 overs riding on valuable contributions from Yumnam Tomthinnganba 22, U Tamnganba 20 and 35 extras.
Lamnganba Thiyam had earlier topscored for NCA adding 34 off 76 balls before M Thoithoiba (3/17) and Thongam Rahul (2/28) led the bowling attack in a lost cause.
S Gerwyn was named man of the match.
At Moijing Public Ground, RCA overwhelmed YESSDAN, Ningthoukhong by 10 wickets to seal their quarterfinal ticket.
RCA dismissed toss winners YESSDAN for 52 runs in 24.2 overs riding on Makakmayum Ifran (4/8) and Farhan Ahmed (4/22) before Afiq Hussain 24 off 31 and Syed Sami Ul 17 off 23 produced an unbeaten 55-run first wicket partnership to seal the 10 wicket win.
Ningthoujam Rajesh 13 off 51, was the only double digit run getter for YESSDAN today before their bowling department flopped terribly.
Makakmayum Irfan was adjudged player of the match.
Meanwhile at Khudeiband Lampak, KSDO Kyamgei knocked out PTCC, Patsoi by handing a huge 110-run defeat.
KSDO opted to bat first and raised a commanding total of 215 runs for 2 wickets as Kh Firdos 58 not out off 67 balls (6 fours and 2 sixes) and Sangomsumpham Arish 75 not out off 78 balls (11 fours and 1 six) produced an unbeaten partnership of 148-runs for the third wicket.
They then bowled out PTCC for a meagre total of 105 runs in 21.2 overs courtesy of impressive bowling performances from Kh Firdos (3/7), Khutheibam Abu Sufiyan (2/33) and Abdul Gani (2/16) to seal the huge win.
Firdos, who produced an allround show, was adjudged player of the match.
Elsewhere at Model Hr Sec and Oriental College ground, SHADOW beat THAU by 4 wickets in a Thangmeiband derby to confirm their place in the quarterfinals.
THAU won the toss and opted to bat first. But they slumped to 60 all out in 22.4 overs before SHADOW cruised to winning 61/6 in 15.4 overs.
Purujit Mutum, who scored an unbeaten 18 off 42 balls, emerged the topscorer for THAU today in the innings that saw Khundrakpam Hemraj (4/14), Tomthinnganba Rajkumar (3/16) and Sukhadev Yumnam (2/3) shone shared a bulk of 9 wickets for SHADOW.
In reply, SHADOW also struggled with the bat but contributions from Aribam Ganaraj Sharma 12 not out off 27 and Tomthinnganba Rajkumar 10 off 16 and 20 extras ensured the team’s victory.
Moirangthem Paikhomba (2/14), Austin Khundrakpam (1/17) and Purujit Mutum (1/18) were among the wickets for THAU in this innings.
Khundrakpam Hemraj of SHADOW was adjudged player of the match.
