IMPHAL, May 21: Disruption in transportation along the National Highways has caused shortage of certain dietary items, particularly eggs and bananas, at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, said the hospital in a statement.
As these items are presently unavailable in the local market owing to the ongoing situation, the hospital is temporarily unable to provide eggs and bananas as part of the routine morning diet for admitted patients, it said.
The concerned supplier has officially intimated the hospital authorities regarding the shortage and inability to ensure regular supply at present, it added.
RIMS administration is closely monitoring the situation and is making all possible efforts to restore normal dietary services at the earliest. Alternative arrangements are also being explored to minimise inconvenience to patients, said the hospital.
Appealing to patients, attendants, and the general public to bear with this temporary difficulty and extend their understanding and cooperation during this challenging period, the hospital said, normal supply and dietary services will resume immediately once transportation and supply chains are restored.
RIMS remains committed to ensuring uninterrupted patient care and essential hospital services, it said.
