IMPHAL, May 20 : In no uncertain terms, the Federation of Hoamee (FoH) and Village Volunteers Force Manipur (VVFM) stated that leaders of Kuki militant groups under the Suspension of Operation (SoO) pact must be arrested and compelled to produce the six Naga men taken captive, instead of carrying out search operations in forests.
FoH and VVFM, in a joint statement, said that security forces have been conducting search operations in response to the hostage crisis triggered by the killing of three Thadou Church leaders, but so far, to no avail.
They contended that the whereabouts of the abducted civilians would surely be revealed once the Government arrests KNO leader PS Haokip and question him.
FoH and VVFM also stated that the SoO groups would surely release the hostages if instructed by the Government of India, as the SoO cadres receive salaries and other facilities from the Government.
They, meanwhile, called for unity among the indigenous people, as Kuki groups have launched a violent campaign against both the Meiteis and the Nagas.
It is not the time for Meitei, Tangkhul, or Liangmai communities to face this aggression separately, they said.
They announced that an Indigenous People’s Meet will be held on May 28 at Shumang Leela Shanglen at Palace Compound, where a collective resolution of the indigenous people will be adopted.
FoH and VVFM appealed to all indigenous people to attend the meeting.
