Church leaders meet UNC, NPO men

SENAPATI, May 20 : Ten Church leaders from major Baptist bodies met Naga People's Organisation (NPO) and UNC leaders at the latter's office in Senapati on Tuesday.
The Church leaders' delegation includes members of the Manipur Baptist Convention (MBC), Council of Baptist Churches in North East India (CBCNEI), Asia Pacific Baptist Federation (APBF), and Baptist World Alliance (BWA). The meeting focused on the ongoing tension in the region, particularly the hostage crisis.
Following the meeting, the Church leaders made a joint appeal to the United Naga Council (UNC) and Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) to ensure the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages.
Continued detention of innocent people is causing distress to families and deepening fear and mistrust among communities, said the Church leaders, stressing the need to protect human life and dignity.
They also urged all parties involved to act with restraint and responsibility and called for peace and reconciliation.
They appealed to all communities to reject violence and work together towards restoring normalcy in Manipur.
