IMPHAL, May 21 : YAC, Yaiskul and CHAMP, Khagempalli posted their first wins in two games each in the ongoing 3rd Khomdram (O) Hijam Mema Devi Memorial T-20 Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament today.
In the Group D match, YAC pulled off a 59-run victory over YPHU-W, Lalambung courtesy of Chitranjan’s fifer.
Bhaskar 32, Herod 24 and Chitranjan 19 led YAC to 128/9 after they won the toss and elected to bat first before Chitranjan (5/5 in 4 overs), James (2/14), and Birjit (2/30) bundled YPHU-W out for 69 runs.
Kumarkanta (4/22), Bikram (2/28), and Heromen (2/24) were among the wickets for YPHU-W before they collapsed within 13.4 overs despite Hemanta 26 and Jinendra 16 leading from the front.
Chitranjan was eventually named man of the match.
In the Group B encounter staged later in the day, CHAMP overwhelmed NCA by 76 runs.
Rocket 26 and John 25 not out led the CHAMP scoring as the team posted a modest total of 147/5 before bowling out 10-man NCA for 71 runs in 17 overs riding on a concerted effort from Naresh (2/5), Uttam (2/6) and Sudhir (2/20).
For NCA, Rabendra (2/32), Manglemba (1/35) and Somananda (1/12) were among the wickets before Dinesh scored the highest 29 off 21 balls in a lost cause.
Naresh of CHAMP, who scored 16 runs and picked 2 wickets, was named man of the match.
