IMPHAL, May 22 : Reacting to Chongtham Bijoy's statements on social media, the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has urged  him to clarify and do away with the "confusion he has caused".
In a strong and lengthy statement, COCOMI said Chongtham Bijoy should clearly state who are the masterminds of the April 7 Tronglaobi attack that killed two children.
Bijoy has claimed he has evidence and would share them with the probe agency or authority concerned. But, he has not yet done so but placed statements on social media that have caused confusion among the public, COCOMI said, asking if Bijoy's statements were a deception to derail the public movement that erupted following the Tronglaobi incident.
If Bijoy truly wanted to share the evidence, he should have already gone to the probe agency with the evidence. While approaching the right authority would be easy for him as he is connected, he has not done so, said COCOMI, asserting "Bijoy is the one, not COCOMI, hindering the investigation".
Reacting to Bijoy's alleged claim that the Tronglaobi bomb attack was a separate incident that is not related to the Meetei-Kuki conflict, COCOMI asked if he is the head of the agency that is probing the incident or has "special evidence".
"Why has Bijoy not approached the probe agency yet? Who and what is he waiting for? Or is he afraid?" If he truly has the evidence of the Tronglaobi incident and submits them to the probe agency then it would surely bring a solution to the current issue surrounding the incident. As he has not done so, "is somebody strong who doesn't want a solution stopping him?" COCOMI asked.
If he truly has the evidence, he should approach the probe agency and hand them over, COCOMI said.
COCOMI further condemned Bijoy for allegedly stating that the public agitation that broke out as a result of the Tronglaobi attack was financed by a person who has black money.
COCOMI, as a civil body, took a leading role in the public agitation. "We did accept donations, but we were not financed by anybody," it said.
Bijoy's alleged statement hurt the sanctity of COCOMI. Therefore, he should clearly identify who is the person with black money that financed the public agitation and also name the CSOs that received such funds, COCOMI said.
As the 5-day deadline which was earlier served to Bijoy urging him to clarify has passed, COCOMI, as stated earlier, is declaring him as a "Proxy War Collaborator", it said.
Bijoy should clearly identify the masterminds of the Tronglaobi incident and the person with black money who financed public agitation that followed. If he is able to identify the persons, COCOMI will clear his name, it said.
Further, COCOMI will no longer be responsible for any fallout and eventualities that may arise out of Bijoy's statements. The public will decide the matter, it added.
