NHRC registers hostage case

IMPHAL, May 22 : The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has registered a complaint pertaining to the abduction of six Naga men from Leilon Vaiphei by "Kuki terrorists" on May 13.
The complaint was lodged by one Chingthang Nambam, a resident of Uripok Tourangbam Leikai.
Meanwhile,  Chingthang Nambam, the complainant, said that the complaint has been officially accepted and registered by the Commission.
The complainant appealed for urgent interven- tion from the relevant authorities to ensure the safe rescue and release of the six abducted persons at the earliest possible time.
According to the complaint, the incident has raised serious concern over the safety and security of innocent civilians in the affected areas.
The petition urged the authorities to take immediate and necessary measures to trace the whereabouts of the abducted individuals and bring those responsible for the act under the purview of law.
The complainant further appealed to the authorities concerned and human rights bodies to take the matter seriously and act swiftly in the interest of justice and humanitarian concern.
