IMPHAL, May 22: Four vehicle lifters have been remanded to judicial custody till June 6 by the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate today.
The accused are Makakmayum Musharaf (21), son of Nasir Khan of Lilong Chingkham Makha; Md Soilhamid (22), son of the late Md Mahamut of Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai; Bogimayum Imaran Khan (32), son of Md Anuwar of Irong Chesaba Mayai Leikai; and Md Nasir (33), son of Md Kasim of Uchiwa Khelakhong.
They were produced before the Court upon completion of their police custody period.
What the APP says
On May 15, around 7 pm, two unknown individuals arrived at RIMS in a car bearing a West Bengal registration number and attempted to steal a two-wheeler vehicle.
CCTV footage captured their attempt, after which they fled when chased by a security guard.
The car was later found abandoned near the CBI quarter gate.
Later the same day, around 7.40 pm, two persons were detained near the Psychiatric Ward and identified themselves as Md Soilhamid and Makakmayum Musharaf.
They admitted to attempting to steal a moped from the RIMS complex and disclosed that they had taken heroin.
Based on their statements, two more vehicle lifters - Md Imaran Khan and Md Nasir-were subsequently arrested.
The four accused are reportedly involved in previous theft cases at the RIMS complex in March and May of this year.
They are habitual offenders, and several known and unknown accomplices are yet to be apprehended.
After hearing submissions from the APP and reviewing the case records, the Court remanded all four accused to judicial custody till June 6.
