Rongmei village fired upon

IMPHAL, May 22: Pongringlong Part 1, a Rongmei Naga village in Kangpokpi district under New Keithelmanbi police station came under attack from suspected Kuki militants today.
Around 30 rounds of gunshots were heard by the villagers at around 3 pm today, sources said.
It was suspected that the gunshots were fired by Kuki militants from the nearby hill range.
Following the gunshots, local villagers and Naga village guards have stepped up defensive measures, said the sources.
Security forces have also rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation, the sources added.
